Why convert TIFF to PDF?

TIFF is common for scanned documents, faxes and archive images, but many websites, email clients and phones cannot open it. A PDF opens almost everywhere, is easy to share and can keep many scanned pages together in one file.

Multi-page TIFFs and several files

A multi-page TIFF stores several pages in a single file. This tool reads every page and adds each one to the PDF in order. If you add more than one file, the pages are joined in the order shown in the list.

Page size and image quality

"Fit to image" makes each PDF page the size of the scan, using the resolution stored in the TIFF when it is available. A4 and US Letter place each image on a standard page, scaled to fit. JPG quality gives smaller files; PNG keeps every pixel exactly but produces larger PDFs.

Very large scans use a lot of memory because they are decoded in your browser. If a file is too big for your device, try a computer or lower-resolution scan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the TIFF to PDF converter free?
Yes. It is free to use, with no registration and no limit on how many files you convert.
Are my TIFF files uploaded to a server?
No. The files are decoded and converted in your browser, and they are not sent to our servers.
Can I convert a multi-page TIFF to a PDF?
Yes. Every page of a multi-page TIFF is added to the PDF as its own page, in order.
Can I combine several TIFF files into one PDF?
Yes. Add all the files, arrange them with the arrows, and they are joined into a single PDF.
Which TIFF compression types are supported?
Common TIFF types are supported, including uncompressed, LZW, PackBits, Deflate, JPEG and CCITT Group 3 and 4 fax compression. Unusual or very specialised TIFF variants may not open.
Will the PDF text be searchable?
No. The PDF contains the scanned pictures. To make scanned pages searchable, run the PDF through our PDF OCR tool.
What page size will my PDF have?
By default each page matches the size of the image, using the resolution stored in the TIFF where available. You can also place each image on an A4 or US Letter page.
Why did a very large TIFF fail to convert?
TIFF files are decoded in your browser's memory. Extremely large scans may be too big for some phones or older computers; try a different device or a lower-resolution scan.
